Prepare ahead: common items in paper bags that are taped closed.
- Make enough for each child to have one.
- Use items that have interesting shapes, are very light or very heavy, make noises, and/or have an odor. Avoid using toys that children will want to keep.
- Pass around closed bags and have children guess what they think is inside. Remind them to use all their senses – is it heavy? Funny shapes? Does it make a noise? Have an odor?
- Once everyone is holding a bag, have kids say what they think is inside.
- Have them open the bags to find out what it really is. Did they get it right or make a mistake? What clues were there?
